Get Studio.
Build beautifully.
From first brief
to live site.
Studio is the workspace we use to go from a messy idea to something you can put in front of a client — real content, a considered layout, and a path all the way to launch.
From your site check
You checked —
Studio rebuilds the same business around those findings. When you create the project, paste your address into the field marked “Your current website URL” — it keeps your brand, contact details, services and wording, and rebuilds the rest.
Hashes appear when the published release exposes them. Compare the value with your local file before installing.

If it does, right-click the app in Applications and choose Open to continue. Install steps, and what changed in the last build we documented, are just below.

What's new in Studio — 0.4.5 to 0.4.16
- Describe a tool and preview it running. Widget Studio compiles calculators, quote estimators and booking steps into dependency-free components that travel in the static export — and refuses generated code that tries to use the network, storage, workers or navigation.
- Optional strict security. Give exported pages a hash-based Content Security Policy, with every script covered and external origins derived from the finished document. Private network targets, including redirects and IPv4-mapped IPv6 addresses, are rejected before a request is made.
- A verified folder export. Write the site to a chosen folder, verify every delivered file against its SHA-256 manifest, and refuse unsafe paths, remote dependencies and asset collisions.
- Offline artwork that actually travels. Missing hero, about and gallery images now become deterministic labelled SVGs embedded in the project. Your uploads still win and no remote image URL is left to fail after the file is moved.
- More presentation controls. Optional dark mode, print styles, a branded 404, a web-app manifest, reduced-motion-safe scroll classes and a local copy-rewrite engine join the release.
- Fixed: generation failed instantly and refunded the credit. A leftover debug line read a setting that only exists outside Studio's own window, so the generator threw before building anything. It now creates your project and keeps the credit.
- Fixed: a fault like that can no longer ship. Studio's tests run in an environment that has things the real app does not, so code that breaks the app could pass all of them. A release is now refused if any file Studio loads in its window depends on something that is not actually there.
- Fixed: a silent wait when you choose “Restart now”. Starting an update from the menu showed no window while the installer worked — minutes of nothing on an older machine, which looked like a crash. It now shows the launch check's own progress screen, with Skip available the whole time.
- Fixed: “Later” now means later. The prompt promised a deferred update would install when you quit, but that had been switched off to protect the safe installer hand-off. Choose Later and the downloaded update is armed for your next quit.
- Fixed: the Skip message. It now says whether your downloaded update is kept for your next quit or will be offered again.
- Fixed: “it downloads, then nothing”. Studio was quitting as soon as the download completed, before the installer had expanded the archive — so the update was cut short and discarded silently. It now waits for the installer's ready signal, and Skip stays available while it does.
- Studio reopens after installing. The installer was told not to relaunch the app; a finished update now ends with the new version running.
- Slow machines lose nothing. If the expansion cannot be confirmed in time, Studio opens anyway and installs the update the next time you quit.
- Different sites, not different colours. Generation picks between six named visual archetypes — editorial magazine, bento glass, brutalist kinetic, neo-minimalist, organic clay and retro cyberpunk — differing in type, rhythm, borders, button shape and motion.
- The section toolbar. Select a section in the preview to rewrite its copy, change its layout, or open a pre-filled prompt naming that section. Each action becomes a Copilot request, so it costs the same credit and undoes in the same step.
- Design Tokens. Brand colour, surface, section rhythm, button radius and button shadow, with a live WCAG AA reading of body text on surface.
- Studio Guides. A searchable offline knowledge base for design DNA, contrast, SEO checks, client facts and prompt craft.
- Fixed: a layout command such as “make the second section floating chips” now changes that section, and every feature screen now ships inside the installed app.
- Older machines now use a lighter rendering path automatically, with software-rendering fallback when graphics acceleration is unavailable.
- Advanced Canvas loads GrapesJS and VvvebJS only when opened, so optional visual tools cannot slow or break normal startup.
- Updater hand-off is bounded and explicit, with a skip route if an update check stalls and no competing install-on-quit path.
- A signed data-only hotfix channel can deliver bounded copy and configuration fixes without replacing executable app code.
- Shape the brief. Adaptive questions capture the visitor goal, audience, visual personality and available proof before Studio builds.
- Choose a route. Three contrasting creative directions let you select the point of view before generation.
- Understand and refine. The generation receipt explains the conversion strategy, proof approach and signature moment, with controls to generate another direction.
- Save a proven starting point. Pro users can save a project as a personal starter while leaving the previous client’s details, copy and images behind by default.
- Work that survives interruptions. Background jobs retry safely and optional crash reporting scrubs sensitive data before sending.
- New projects now vary their composition, typography, hero treatment, section rhythm, layout variants, motion signature and image direction — not just their colours. The selected direction is saved with the project and remains editable.
- A structured design grammar and offline critique pass reject generic repetition where it can be proved, then apply only safe repairs that respect brand locks and client facts.
- Fact provenance, reference-distance protection, niche-aware image art direction and precise rendered-section targeting make Copilot edits safer and more useful.
- Installing an update on a Mac means quitting the app first. Studio asked the system to install and then never quit, so the installer waited on a process that was never leaving — an update could sit at "Installing update…" until it was force-quit. It now exits, and the swap completes in seconds.
- If the update check stalls, the window offers Skip the update and open Studio and names the version waiting — so a bad connection costs you a restart, not access to your projects.
- Windows is current again. Windows reads its update manifest from the newest published release, and the last two releases shipped Mac builds only — so Windows had nothing to find. This release carries the Windows installer and its manifest.
- Concierge. An "Ask us" panel on the exported site, answering from a knowledge pack you fill in — hours, prices, services, booking link. It runs in the visitor's browser: no server, no API key, nothing leaving the page. It refuses rather than guesses, and anything it cannot place becomes an enquiry through the form your site already delivers.
- Self-scheduling content. An offer with an end date removes itself after midnight; seasonal and term-time hours appear on the day. Content already expired at export is dropped from the file entirely, and nothing disappears a day early for a visitor in another timezone.
- Share cards now rasterise to PNG, so shared links unfurl with a picture. Site Care sweeps every project you have shipped for what has quietly stopped being true — a date that has passed, last year's price, placeholder copy, links that point at nothing.
- "Do not make it dark" used to switch your site to Midnight. "I don't like the editorial look" used to apply it. A message is now read for what it is — a request, a refusal, a question, praise — before anything is planned.
- Scope is read as written: two named sections are both handled, "every section" means every section, and "but keep the words" is honoured instead of quietly dropped. A refusal gets alternatives, never the thing you just turned down.
- The sentence you type is "put the colours back", not "undo one step". It now finds your most recent change to the colours and restores only that, so the work you did afterwards survives.
- Because it works in paths rather than steps, either half of "make the hero punchier and switch to ocean" can be put back on its own.
- Six failures only exist once a site is live, and every one is invisible until a visitor hits it: two pages exporting to the same file, a menu link to a page that was never made, an enquiry with nowhere to go.
- Also an insecure destination, a description left blank, and nothing to publish at all. The button now stops with the reason, rather than letting a stranger find it first.
- A new audit asks what no other one asks — is this still true? Placeholder copy never filled in, our own sample address, an event date that has passed, last year's price beside your money, # links, images with no alt text.
- Animated backgrounds that bind to your palette and honour motion settings, a free-tier badge carrying your own referral link so every site you sell recruits for you — and 7 free AI credits instead of 3.
- Stripe's payment links carried your account id in a query string anyone could edit, so Pro could be bought for — or as — somebody else. Checkout now reads your account from your verified sign-in, and nothing is granted until the webhook verifies Dodo's signature.
